Jean Taddie is a 23-year resident of Mansfield’s 6th ward and a vocal community advocate. Jean moved to Mansfield from Cleveland in 1997 and bought a home in the neighborhood where her partner, John Precup, grew up.
Professionally, Jean earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources and a Master of Applied Communications at Cleveland State University, then taught public speaking, coalition building, conflict resolution and other communication skills for 10 years at local colleges. Following that, Jean worked over 9 years as a community organizer and program manager at NECIC, a nonprofit community development organization in Mansfield, where she collaborated on city government matters. She served 2 years as the Director of the North Central Ohio Land Conservancy, a small nonprofit that protects local nature preserves.
Jean has been an active volunteer in our community for many years, including Richland County Master Gardener Volunteer since 2004, OSU Extension Advisory Committee since 2010, and Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist since 2018. Jean also was elected to and served on the Mansfield Charter Commission in 2016.
Jean was appointed 6th Ward City Councilwoman in January, 2019 and elected to serve 4 more years in November. She is working with residents and organizations to clean up and rebuild our community.
Jean started a Facebook community (https://www.facebook.com/Ward6Mansfield/) as a place to organize local events, share neighborhood news, and recognize positive elements that residents would like to build on.
