Just about a decade old, the Planning Commission was designed in compliance with the City's Zoning Ordinance.
This 6 year term commission includes the Public Works Director, and the Mayor (who appoints the remaining positions). The Commission initiates, reviews, and makes recommendations on amendments to the Zoning Ordinance. They review and make recommendations on all sites, storm drainage (for multifamily and nonresidential), plot, and unit development plans to determine their legality (based on the Subdivision Regulations). Other concerns are those development sites that might affect the City's traffic flow or necessitate new, off-street parking. Any proposed amendments to the ordinance go through a review process by the Commission to ensure correct zoning practices. The Commission also hears demolition appeals.
