Mayor Culliver has created these initiatives since being elected Mayor in November of 2007.
Community First The Mayor's education initiative started during his 2007 campaign when he promised to help develop a positive education focus and to strive for academic excellence in our local learning environment. In March 2008, Mayor Culliver created the first executive internship program through the City of Mansfield and in October 2008, the Mayor opened his office to community education volunteers. He is the first person in Mansfield's history to include a volunteer service wing in a Mayoral administration and is the first Mayor in the State of Ohio to develop a volunteer organization focused on education while in office. Streamlining Government The Mayor's efforts to streamline government have succeeded in a big way for our Utility Collections department. With the implementation of a new wireless meter reading system installed over the course of 2009 the process of collecting water usage readings has been streamlined. Currently what use to take a team of 4 a week to walk a single cycle now takes just one person approximately 8 hours to drive the cycle and receive the readings electronically. This is only the first step in a multi step process.
Economic Development The Mayor's commitment to technology utilization has been channeled into a complete overhaul of the website to better serve our current residents and businesses. It also provides an overview of what the City of Mansfield has to offer to attract new businesses.
Green Mansfield Mayor Culliver has launched a program that will bring the city a new “near-paperless” Public Administration software package that will not only streamline governmental processes in house but make it more covienant for citizens to access information via the world wide web. Many things that use to be done with paper and pen will now be done electronically and some will never be printed to paper again, unless needed.
