Who We Are
The City of Mansfield Water Repair Department consists of 25 employees. We maintain the water distribution system for the City of Mansfield. Our treatment plant produces approximately nine million gallons of drinking water pumped to Woodland Reservoir where we have twelve million gallons of storage. From there it is fed into three different pressure zones.
What We Do
We maintain over 300 miles of water mains. We oversee approximately 3450 water main valves as well as 2290 water hydrants that we service and maintain. The city of Mansfield has over 24,000 water service taps within our system.
The water repair department’s primary job duties include the locating and repairing of water main lines ranging in size from 1” to 30”. The repair of water main valves which enable us to shut down and restore water service in particular areas of our city. We repairs water hydrants damaged by collision or malfunction of valves. We install new water taps ranging in size of ¾” to 12”. Our crews also assist them in following departments:
Street Department - Snow and leaf removal, also cold and hot patching of city streets.
Codes and Permits Department - Lawn care for lawn offenses within the city.
Meter Room Department - Locate, repair shut off valves or curb boxes.
Parks Department / Clearfork Reservoir - Lawn care for city parks.

2009 Overall Review
We responded to over 300 requests for leak checks.
Repaired 132 water mains.
Flushed or repaired approximately 95 water hydrants
Made 70 main line valve repairs.
Installed 15 new service taps.
Turned on or off over 400 water service lines
Repaired or replaced 292 curb box
Located over 2000 water lines requested by O.U.P.S.
